Organizing is a collaborative effort and requires that the professional organizer and client work effectively together. So before we speak on the phone, and I learn about you and what you’d like to accomplish, here’s some information to help you get to know me better.

I have always been organized. From the time I was quite young, my mother had beautifully arranged cupboards and closets.

After graduating with a BFA in graphic arts from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, I moved to San Francisco in the late 70’s, using my organizing skills as a kitchen designer,  a business manager and an administrative assistant in metropolitan hospitals and assistant to the rector at an historical church.

In 1988 I realized that I could use my passion for organizing as a career and became a member and officer of the newly formed San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of NAPO, (National Association of Professional Organizers). Since then I have helped hundreds of clients eliminate clutter from their lives; designed office, living and storage spaces that maximize comfort, function and enjoyment; reorganized spaces as large as houses and as small as handbags; and planned space and storage utilization for kitchen and closet remodels. I’ve also staged dozens of homes for sale, increasing their selling potential by using furniture placement and accessorizing to enhance the look of the home.

In 2001 I made the decision to leave San Francisco after 22 years, and in the space of two weeks, packed up my household and my pet and coordinated a move to Iowa City, Iowa, to be closer to family. One of my most challenging projects to date has been helping my mother downsize the house that she’s lived in for over 60 years and getting it ready to sell.

The Joy of Organizing is both my business name and my philosophy. I believe that developing new habits, learning new skills and becoming more organized so your life can be simpler and less stressful is truly a joy.

Are you ready to experience the joy of organizing?  I’m ready to help you.
